MER Clinic: Hands On: Construct a standard #6 HO gauge turnout
Presented by Earl Hackett @ MER Princeton 2010
This is a hands on workshop for an absolute maximum of 6 individuals. It would be a big help for anyone looking to complete the Civil Engineering AP certificate. During the clinic we will construct a standard #6 HO gauge turnout to NMRA dimensions using PC board ties and rail stock. This is not the method I use for construction of turnouts on my layout, but it is the best way to teach the basic technique. There will be a very short Power Point presentation during which I will point out what resources are available for producing a large volume or switches or for building switches with a higher level of detail. I will bring a sample #6 switch as well as a set of components so the participants can see what we are trying to achieve. I will also supply each participant a set of PC board ties positioned on an outline of a #6 switch. Extra fare. Hands On.
